Once the last of the presents is opened?
All good guesses - but all incorrect.
The Church liturgy considers the Christmas Season from the Christmas vigil Mass to the Solemnity of the Baptism of the Lord.
The birth of Jesus - eternal God makes a little baby body and soul for Himself in Mary's womb. Then He appears for the first time a Christmas - first a few shepherds of the area see Him, then Wise Men from the East, then the whole world is introduced to Him when the Father speaks at the Baptism, "This is My Beloved Son".
For Christians of the Eastern and Oriental Rites, the Epiphany, the Baptism and the Wedding at Cana (where Jesus first manifested His divinity by changing water to wine) are all part and parcel of the same Christmas Mystery.
As we read this week's Gospel let us be challenged to expand our own ideas about Christmas.
